Job Description

The Office of the CTO (OCTO) xLabs team is seeking an experienced developer/automation engineer to help create a working proof of concept for an exciting new vSphere feature. The recently approved xLab project “X49 Virtual Machine Desired State Configuration (VMDSC)” aims to create a mechanism for virtual administrators to be able to define the desired state of a virtual machine via a GUI or scripted/API method. This VM Desired State Configuration (VMDSC) will then be implemented upon the next reboot/poweroff of the VM. VMDSC will allow a virtual environment to achieve a desired state over time through regular virtual workload lifecycle management processes such as security patching. We are looking for talented professionals who share our passion for technology, innovation and excellence to help us develop this exciting new solution for our customers.

Responsibilities

· You have a proven track record of challenging projects, showing 10+ years of experience in building automation frameworks.

· Hands-on experience or knowledge in Virtualization and cloud concepts.

 

· Should have passion about quality, a good understanding of the best practices, SDLC/SQLC processes, QE methodologies, detail-oriented, and good follow-through skills.

· Exposure to object-oriented design principles is desired and worked on RESTAPI & SOAP

· Real passion for customer engagement; interpersonal and customer service skills are mandatory.

· Ability to act in an effective and professional manner during moments of high stress.

· Familiarity with a variety of enterprise management tools and software.

· Strong commitment to setting goals and achieving results.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

Required Skills

· Strong experience with Linux and Windows-based environments.

· Experience with C/C++

· Strong understanding and development experience with vSphere/vCenter/ESXi.

· Strong understanding of PowerShell/PowerCLI.

· Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills.

· Knowledge on Function as a Service (FaaS) would be a plus.

· Experience with creating vSphere Plugins would be a plus.

· VCP or higher certification would be a plus.

Nice to Have:

· Experience with building automation workflows in vRealize Orchestrator.
