The Production Engineer role is focused on supporting the engineering, production and quality departments. The role requires an individual to pick up and resolve a variety of production engineering issues, which will require a proactive and hands on approach to problem solving and an ability to work with minimal supervision. The role would suit an engineer with a mechanical engineering background, possibly a graduate engineer with industrial/manufacturing experience, an ex-apprentice or a production engineer.
As a production engineer, you will be required to make the production process as efficient as possible. You will achieve this by using various principles of engineering, technology, manufacturing and management science. It is a vocation that has significant overlap with manufacturing and industrial engineering.
If you have superb knowledge of the entire manufacturing process from start to finish and you enjoy the challenge of responding quickly to emergencies, a career as a production engineer could be just what you need.
