As Technical/Project Engineer you will be joining a structural steel fabrication company based in County Tyrone. Now looking to add additional members to the team due to sustained growth, the team is made up of tekla designers, welders, fabricator and steel erectors. Projects are based across the UK and Ireland.
Your new role
The technical/project engineer will work closely with the Drawing Office Manager and Company Director to assist with the smooth running of projects , ensuring that agreed issue dates/deadlines are met ; the role would ideally suit an individual with solid Drawing Office background within the structural steel industry , with at least 3 years experience in use of Tekla , or Project Manager with a technical understanding.
Control and manage all activities in the structural steel and engineering department
Oversee projects from client award through to handover
Understand the project requirements/scope of works /specifications etc
Oversee and ensure optimal usage of Tekla software as well as bespoke Tekla components
Oversee approval of fabrication and erections drawings by Consultant engineers
Oversee drawing control and ensure timely submission of drawings to the production team – so that project deadlines are met
Liaise with the drawing office manager/detailers to identify potential bottle necks in the drawing process – and so ensure smooth running of projects
Coordinate the design , production & installation of projects fully , liaising with both workshop fabricators and site teams to understand erection sequence and agree order call offs , and to resolve /troubleshoot on site problems
Improve on current workshop/on site procedures
Work alongside Design engineers and other departments acting as a vital knowledge base to ensure that all the products manufactured meet the structural requirements provided
Produce programs of work ,RAMS ,etc
Assist with the management of variations to the project in conjunction with the QS and Drawing Office Manager
Conduct product testing and review of technical product designs
Oversee performance management executions , recording and review
What you’ll need to succeed
Diploma/degree in Structural Steel Detailing /Structural Engineering or other relevant discipline
Solid experience working within the structural steelwork industry
Ability to read technical drawings and understand the detailing/drawing process is essential , with a minimum of 3 year’s experience of USING TEKLA required
Competent to liaise with clients and across the project team , including engineers , architects , workshop foreman , drawing office team , QS , etc , and to manage the flow of technical information
Capable of working from site measurements and producing fabrication drawings from those measurements
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work on own initiative , and as part of a team
What you’ll get in return
Salary on offer for this role is £28500, with a 40 hour working week, staring 8:30am and finishing 5:30pm Monday to Friday. This is a great opportunity to expand you knowledge and work with a growing company within the structural steel sector.
